A field trip was organized on June 2, 2026, for 2nd-year Geography Department students as part of their Hydrography and Soil Geography courses, to the geosite locations in Sındırgı district, within the Ida Madra Geopark.

In line with the applied education approach, students had the opportunity to examine the region's important natural and geoheritage areas on-site. The fieldwork included observations of travertine chimneys and travertine terraces, thermal springs, and the region's hydrogeological and geomorphological features. Through these field observations, students were able to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in their classes to real-world situations.

The program also included a cultural excursion to the Sındırgı district center, where students learned about the region's historical, cultural, and touristic values. This allowed students to assess the relationship between the natural environment and human factors firsthand.

The fieldwork significantly contributed to students' ability to conduct field observations, analyze geographical processes on-site, and gain professional experience, while also reinforcing theoretical knowledge through practical application. Our university's Geography Department will continue to conduct field studies to enhance students' field-based learning experiences.
